\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Kartuiin Sector enjoyed relative peace–save for the occasional pirate attack on convoys and minor trade disputes–since the truce with the Imperial Remnant in 19ABY.\u00a0 Circa 15ABY, Admiral Indiana Bridger had been promoted to commanding officer for all New Republic forces in the Kartuiin Sector.\u00a0 The main base for these forces remained at Xenen, despite its distance from the sector capital at Kartuiin.\u00a0 Tegan Dargan-Cannele was reelected to the governor\u2019s chair in 24ABY after an absence of several years (she stepped down as governor about a year after the liberation of the sector from the Empire).\u00a0 The sector has enjoyed positive relations with both the New Republic, of which it is a member sector, and with the Imperial Remnant.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Peace was shattered with the Vong attack at Sernpidal, felt by every Jedi across the sector\u2014and with it came a screamed warning from Ion Qel-Droma that the storm they\u2019d felt the brewing of was finally here.\u00a0 A force of Yuuzhan Vong launched their attack at Xenen at the same time both Wayfarer station and Shay Memorial suffered a catastrophic loss of long-range communications, a loss orchestrated by a rogue intelligence agent bent on murder and revenge.\u00a0 The agent was apprehended through the intervention of the former XO of Ice Squadron, Robert Drake, and heralded the return to active service of General Rendar.\u00a0 The Vong attack was barely replused\u2014this thanks to the fortituous, unexpected return of the Five Star Legacy<\/em> ahead of schedule (this is, at least, what\u2019s generally believed.\u00a0 The Vong force did quite a bit of damage before withdrawing.) and the arrival of the AFFC Fourth Fleet (which officially did not exist). \u00a0\u00a0In the meantime, the Golgan system was being hit by Alexander Kerensky and his Vong allies\u2014a fact that would become clear in the coming weeks, when Natasha Kerensky arrived on Xenen to beg the help of her father\u2019s friends in defeating the monster he had become.
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the wake of these attacks, Aurora Force commanding officer Indiana Bridger sent out a blanket message to all former members of her unit, both still on active duty and retired.\u00a0 \u201cI know that we all thought that we\u2019d won our war, won our battles, earned our peace. That peace is shattered, now, and it\u2019s time to bring the family back together again.\u201d\u00a0 She offered full reinstatement for anyone who had retired and promised to attempt to get anyone reassigned back to the Aurora Force who requested it.\u00a0 Some returned (including Janet Skyy and the believed-dead Al Grentarii).\u00a0 Some have not (such as Carlos Delong).
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Vong are still stirring in the Kartuiin Sector, and the worlds and units assigned there have begun to brace for an assault they know is coming, just not from where, or how, or when.\u00a0 Even amidst the planning and restructuring, there have been celebrations, such as the marriage of Cay Bel Iblis, captain of the Legacy<\/em> to Eagle Squadron XO Mary Bullian.\u00a0 The Vong were apparently annoyed at a lack of an invitation to the event, however, destroying General Kosura\u2019s AFFC Fifth Fleet and cutting Aurora Force\u2019s naval power by 65%.\u00a0 The ships will not be replaced and the Republic is already making sounds about pulling more ships from the Kartuiin Sector, which is rapidly becoming viewed more and more by the Senate on Coruscant as \u201cexpendable.\u201d
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It\u2019s less than a month before the Battle of Ithor, and the Aurora Force is at war.<\/p>\n

Notable retirements prior to 25ABY<\/strong>
\nThis list is not meant to be exhaustive.\u00a0 It is simply a list of people off the top of my head at current that I can think of that had retired, whether their status has changed or not. Please see the Databank for more information.<\/em><\/p>\n

  • Carlos Delong<\/strong> \u2013 Carlos is now the commanding officer of the Golgan Defense Forces out of Golgan III, having retired from New Republic service with full honors and benefits<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Janet Skyy Wyler<\/strong> \u2013 Janet had retired to her home planet of Atad to raise her two children, Lesley (Les) and Aysa.\u00a0 She has since returned to active duty.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • General Garan-Dur<\/strong> \u2013 The Jedi Master currently serves as chief advisor to Governor Tegan Dargan Cannele on Kartuiin.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • General Derik Bel Iblis<\/strong> \u2013 The Wyvern was believed to have retired after the Tlir debacle to a small farm on Grassus.\u00a0 He has since officially returned to active duty.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • General Tag Rendar<\/strong> \u2013 Tag resigned her posting with New Republic Intelligence and the New Republic military ultimately in response to the death of Jaq Pellman.\u00a0 She has since returned to active duty.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Jinx Katarn<\/strong> \u2013 Jinx had retired from service to the New Republic to pursue being a Jedi full-time.\u00a0 He was recently killed under mysterious circumstances and cremated.\u00a0 He was later memorialized on the Field of the Fallen on Xenen.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Alexander Kerensky<\/strong> \u2013 Kerensky retired from the New Republic and largely disappeared\u2026until his return as a Vong agent known as Demios.<\/em><\/li>\n
