\u00a0\u00a0Someone once said that the Force was, “an energy field created by all living things.” It surrounds, it penetrates. It binds the galaxy together. And some, going back deeper and deeper in the annuls of history, believed that the Force had a will of its own.
\n\u00a0\u00a0Of course, nobody really knows the will of the Force, or if they do they aren’t telling anyone about it. For all that is known, there might be an old man (or woman; the Force does not discriminate based on gender) on a mountaintop somewhere on an uncharted planet who knows precisely what the Force is planning and why it’s doing it. But since nobody knows this man or woman (should they even exist) it really has no bearing on the story.
\n\u00a0\u00a0What does have a bearing on the story, however, is the fact that streams had been set in motion that had begun to send a number of people back towards their fate on the planet Xenen. People who flat out should not have been there (or even alive) had managed to show up within a one week period. Some friction had driven Alex Grentarii and his fiancee, Amanda Lance, away from the planet Xenen. But there they had run into trouble.
\n\u00a0\u00a0That had most certainly not been attacked by the Vong. It’s rarely the big bads of the week who cause all the problems in the galaxy. Sometimes it’s the group who’s been around the block since the beginning, and in this case it was a smuggling team. The attack had been swift, but after surrendering a few valuables they had gone off and left her alone. However the ship was in no condition to take a long flight. So, Amanda turned the ship around and headed towards the best place she knew of.<\/p>\n
